Press Release: Jeffco Credit Union’s Jeans Week nets funds for Serving Kids Program
July 25, Lakewood, CO — Expecting a slow 4th of July week, Jeffco Credit Union decided to make it fun and casual for the employees scheduled to work. For every person coming to work in a pair of jeans, the Credit Union donated $10 to the Serving Kids clothing program. The week generated $390! Serving Kids is in its 10th year of providing clothing to Jeffco school children in need. It is a partnership of The Jefferson Foundation, Jefferson County Administrators’ Association (JCAA), Jefferson County Education Association (JCEA), Classified School Employees Association (CSEA), Jeffco PTA and Jeffco Credit Union.
In the past school year, the volunteers that staff Serving Kids distributed 9,385 articles of clothing to over 809 students, from preschool to high school. “When school begins, students need more than school supplies to start the year,” said Mona Sandoval, Executive Director of The Jefferson Foundation. “We receive our most requests for clothing at the beginning of the year and in December/January. Many thanks to Jeffco Credit Union for their kind donation.” Monetary donations, and new and slightly-used clothing donations may be delivered to The Jefferson Foundation, 809 Quail Street, Building #1, Lakewood, 80215.
